Drumming Bird is an indie-rock band based in Nashville, TN, and the main vehicle of singer-songwriter Austin Sawyer. The 23-year-old has been writing and performing music for over 7 years as Drumming Bird. Following the release of a full-length record, Great Smoky Love, and 2 standalone singles, Drumming Bird released their second album, Ocoee, on October 9th, 2020. The album received critical acclaim and regular radio rotation on several stations including Nashville’s Lightning 100, and led to Drumming Bird being named their Local Artist of the Week for the week of October 12th, 2020. The beginning of 2021 saw Drumming Bird land a placement of their song “Second Best” on Showtime’s hit TV show Shameless, followed by a year of debuts at some of the Southeast’s flagship clubs including Proud Larry’s, the 40 Watt Club and a sold out headlining show at Nashville’s The Basement. 2022 ushers in the next chapter of Drumming Bird with a 5-song EP, American Spirits, slated for an August release. American Spirits offers a shift in Sawyer’s typical writing, tackling topics such as the reverberations of religion in today’s society, aspects of our nation’s troubled history, and the joys and struggles of long-term relationships.

The lead single “American Spirits” is out via AWAL May 19.
