CHANCE EMERSON

Chance Emerson is a 23-year-old, Taiwanese-American singer-songwriter originally from Hong Kong and now residing in Providence, RI.

Whilst enrolled as a student at Brown University, Emerson steadily built up a loyal fanbase amongst both college and indie/folk rock audiences at large through an unrelenting release & touring schedule which saw him sell out countless headline shows as well as support more established artists including Johnnyswim, Eli Young Band, Lawrence, Ripe, Blues Traveler, Brett Dennen and even Nancy Wilson's Heart!

His recently released 10-track album, Ginkgo, exquisitely showcases the many reasons behind his swift ascent from dorm-room troubadour to nationwide touring phenom; a rise driven as much by his fellow Gen Z/TikTok-engaging peers, as by firmly established artists who have invited him to support them on tour.

Ginkgo, which is 100% self-written and produced entirely by Emerson’s good friend Jack Riley, was written “to trace the cyclical nature of young love and was done experimentally in ‘real-time,’ meaning the love songs were written when I was in love, the heartbreak songs were written in times of immense pain, and the songs about rebuilding and falling again were written, well, just a few months ago” explains Emerson. “Ginkgo had to take that long because it took that long for me to get there. I put pen to paper in each phase of my growing up to chase the truest depiction of love and loss I could muster.”

The album’s first track House We Share – a song about what happens when two people who are in love take the plunge and move in together – has already crossed over 1 Million streams and received support in many areas, including features in Spotify’s powerful ‘Dinner With Friends’ and ‘Next Gen Singer-Songwriter’ playlists. Emerson explains “I had just moved into a little cabin in the woods of Maine with my first long-term partner and I noticed all these little things I was doing differently: the wood in the fireplace was stacked neatly, the houseplants were thriving and there was some kind of joyful honeymoon energy imbued in even the dust floating through the air in the early mornings. I looked back on that experience this year in my (literal) pink-tinted glasses and started writing… A month later I went back to that cabin with my closest friend and we recorded the 12-string guitar in the living room and sampled the attic acoustics for the ambience behind the song. These are some of the most honest lyrics I’ve ever written and I knew it would be the first single of my upcoming record.”

Emerson released his first self-produced EP, The Indigo Tapes, back in 2017. Recorded in his high school music building’s attic, to his Facebook and Instagram. The word spread, local radio got on board and the EP ascended the iTunes charts to #1 in the Singer-Songwriter EP category. He followed this up in 2020 with a full album, The Raspberry Men. Recorded in a wooden shed in Maine with Emerson playing almost all instruments, the album premiered on NPR-partner station WICN and received praise from American Songwriter, The Providence Journal, Spotify’s Indie Shuffle playlist, The South China Morning Post, Atwood Magazine and more. Earmilk selected The Raspberry Men as one of its best indie/alternative albums of 2020.

THEO KANDEL

With bold, witty lyricism that brings you to that liminal space between laughter and tears, Theo Kandel has been described as "a modern-day James Taylor, albeit slightly scruffier and a good deal shorter. But maybe also sexier." (Source pending.) Having amassed over 160k followers across social media and 8M+ worldwide streams, Theo continues to shout into the void, leaving his own fingerpicking-tinged musical fingerprint as he goes. Originally from New York City, he spent six years honing his chops in Nashville before moving to Los Angeles, where he is currently based.

RACHEL ROSE

Rachel Rose, a Connecticut-born, Austin-launched, and Brooklyn-based folk singer/songwriter, has crafted a rich, nostalgic sound that incorporates elements of soul, blues, folk, and pop. Rachel draws influence from the likes of Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Linda Ronstadt, Janis Joplin, Brandi Carlile, and Alanis Morissette. Having firmly established herself as a vocalist, Rachel released her debut EP 100/10/1 in 2020. Since then Rachel has packed out notable venues such as Rockwood Music Hall and Baby's All Right, and was one of three selected songwriters to open the Hootennany Sessions at Cafe Wha? after a nearly 50-year hiatus. In 2023, Rachel released her sophomore EP And One More Thing, all songs written and performed by Rachel and produced by Charles Myers (Yebba). Through her work, Rachel was chosen to appear on The Tonight Show’s “Battle Of The Instant Songwriters” with Jimmy Fallon, and her original song, Back To The Beginning (on her sophomore EP), was featured on Tiny Desk’s Top Shelf Segment (Rachel made top 36 out of 6,000 submissions). She has continued to collaborate with producers including John Alagia (John Mayer, Dave Matthews), and Tyler Chester (Madison Cunningham, Joan Baez, etc.) She also performed a 3-month residency at The Bitter End, and was an unofficial SXSW featured artist.
