JOHN HINCKLEY

John Hinckley was born May 29, 1955 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. After bouncing around many states, he resided in a lovely psychiatric hospital in Washington D.C. from 1981 until 2016. while there, he enjoyed playing his guitar, writing songs & poetry, creating art, & consuming their delicious food & medication.

When Devo released their 5th studio album “Oh No! it’s Devo” in 1982, they used John's poem for their song “I Desire”. But that’s okay! John isn’t upset in the slightest! Who needs royalties? In 1985, Wall of Voodoo released their song “Far Side of Crazy”. Not only was it about John, but the name was a direct quote from his poetry.

Currently, John resides in Williamsburg, Virginia & is looking for a new place to call home. He spends his time with his cool cat Theo, creating paintings (each one in under 15 minutes), writing, generally blocking out the outside world & recording his music in his apartment studio. He just got his Gretsch g5425 Electromatic Jet Club & he’s been fiddling with that all day!
